Crossroads in postgraduate psychiatry training in India

Abstract

The specialist training program for psychiatrists in India is in need of an overhaul to enhance the competenecy of trainees.This will help future psychiatrists to keep themselves uptodate with the growing demands of the expanding field and ensure unifrom standards of teaching and assessment during examinations across the country. While continuing to support the core strengths of the training program, a robust system for periodic reviews to addess the lacunae in training is the need of the hour.
